Postponement of FOKWC Golf Tournament

Many are likely wondering why the decision was made to postpone today’s tournament. Here are some of the considerations we faced, making this an extremely difficult decision, one that was not made lightly.

Whitmoor Country Club received 2.5 inches of rain on Sunday night. The course, especially the greens, were soaked. Cart paths only. If any additional rain was received, the course would most likely be shut down during play.

At 6:45 a.m. today, the weather radar showed extremely strong storms hitting St. Charles county beginning at 8:30 a.m and continuing past 3 p.m. The radar indicated strong winds approaching the St. Charles area.

Having already been challenged with social distancing requirements, we knew that any rain delay or  lighting strike, would force our group of over 230 ppl into a pavilion space – overloading that capacity beyond what was allowed by local ordinance.

Our number one concern remains the safety of our supporters and volunteers; so without a crystal ball we were forced to pull the plug to safeguard everyone involved and abide by local Covid-19 guidelines.

We are all beyond disappointed but remain committed to our original mission – raising money to support the children and families we serve.  We will never lose sight of the reason we do what we do. It’s more than golf, and we all know that. Our sincere hope is that you will stick with us – riding this wave – and make every effort to celebrate on the course on August 10. We plan to host you with all the usual fanfare and excitement that has made our tournament an annual favorite.
