Children’s Cancer 5K Fun Run & Memorial Walk Supports Families and Patients

Children’s Cancer 5K Fun Run & Memorial Walk Supports Families and Patients

On the morning of Saturday, April 13th, athletic runners join pediatric cancer patient families to memorialize and honor the struggle of a cancer diagnosis, while raising funds for Friends of Kids with Cancer at the 24th Annual Walk with a Friend.

Local runners join the 5K fun run, a timed competition with prizes and lakeside running views. New and experienced runners are welcome. Men’s, women’s, and children’s categories win prizes in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place to win up to $100 gift cards and a medal.

Families and friends touched by cancer create teams, big and small, carrying banners featuring their loved ones. They walk in memory and in honor of children in recovery, those in remission, and children who have passed from cancer and blood related diseases.

After the walk and 5K, families enjoy bounce houses, face painting, games and more. Local businesses and boutiques showcase themselves in booths for patrons, and food trucks are available for purchase of specialty foods.

Community members and businesses can show their support by attending or sponsoring this event to help continue the organization’s mission to enrich the daily lives of children undergoing treatment for, and survivors of, cancer and blood-related diseases.

Friends of Kids with Cancer is devoted to being an advocate for these special kids and provide them and their families with the Educational, Emotional and Recreational support needed as a result of the long hours of chemotherapy, illness, and isolation. Helping kids with cancer…be kids!

Friends of Kids with Cancer’s Walk with a Friend is Saturday, April  13th at Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park with a 9 a.m. run start. For more information, visit friendsofkids.com/walk or call 314.275.7440.
