Parkway West Students "Pie" Teachers in the Face for Cancer

Parkway West Students “Pie” Teachers in the Face for Cancer

St. Louis, Mo., April 1, 2016 – Students at Parkway West High School purchased raffle tickets for the opportunity to “pie” teachers in the face today during lunch. Over $800 was raised through this event which is part of Parkway School District’s annual fundraiser, Cash for Cancer, a collaborative effort between all four Parkway High Schools.

Parkway West High School’s Community Outreach at West (COW) officers, Mahnoor Malik (President), Milan Malhotra, Jordan Beveridge, Shannon Anderson, Allie Collins and their team organized and hosted the event today at Parkway West.

Malik reflects on her experience with the COW program and the Cash for Cancer fundraiser over the past three years.

"Although I've put in hours planning events and club activities such as Pie-A-Teacher, I'm really fortunate for being able to experience so many benefits. It has taught me how to be a leader and guide my peers; it has helped me strengthen my character and find joy in my ability to help someone. Our amazing faculty members volunteer their faces each year without any hesitations and the students donate because Friends of Kids with Cancer is so dear to our community," said Malik.

Parkway School District has supported Friends of Kids with Cancer in various ways throughout the years. The school district donates money raised through fundraisers each year, including Parkway Spark’s Wrapped with Love entrepreneur program, Cash for Cancer and Hats on Day. Thank you Parkway School District for helping kids with cancer...be kids!

Friends of Kids with Cancer is devoted to enriching the daily lives of children undergoing treatment for, or survivors of, cancer and blood-related diseases. Our mission is to be an advocate for these special kids and provide them and their families with the Educational, Emotional and Recreational support needed as a result of the long hours of chemotherapy, illness and isolation.
