The 16th annual Art from the Heart, presented by Mungenast Lexus of St. Louis, celebrated sixteen years of showcasing artwork, celebrating the expressive minds of extraordinary artists who are affected by pediatric cancer.
Guests who have attended Art from the Heart will tell you it’s more than a fundraiser. This truly unique event helps many artists and their families proudly give back to an organization that has helped them. This fundraiser and celebration paid honor to patient and sibling artists while raising funds to continue art therapy programming at our three partner hospitals: Mercy, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, and St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
Working with different art materials, art therapists help bring patients’ emotions to the canvas creatively as an outlet for the pain and confusion that can come
with a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Each art piece is then donated by the artist or family to Friends to auction off. Generous local art galleries and frame shops
prepare each piece for hanging or display so the auction winner can enjoy the artwork for years to come.
The inspiring artwork ranged from adorable rainbows and pet portraits to heartfelt sentiments with lyrics and poems. Every artist received a copy of their artwork during the artist ceremony at the event. Artists expressed their excitement as patrons bid on their artwork while enjoying their private space in the “Arty Party Room,” full of fun and camaraderie just for artists.
This event is made possible by our generous donors like Presenting Sponsor, Mungenast Lexus of St. Louis, who host the event in their beautiful dealership showroom. Not only do they host the annual event at no cost to the organization, but they also solicit donations, provide drinks for the bar, and underwrite much of the event.
