Friends of Kids with Cancer is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the daily lives of children undergoing treatment for, and survivors of, cancer and blood-related diseases. Our mission is simple: helping kids with cancer…be kids.
Position Overview:
The Program Facilitator is a dynamic, relationship-driven role responsible for direct patient engagement in hospital settings, coordination of emotional and educational support services, and execution of key programs and events.
This is a non-clinical position, though candidates with clinical or pediatric experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Job Summary:
Patient Engagement & Hospital Presence
- Visit local treatment centers regularly to engage patients and caregivers
- Deliver programs such as milestone gifts, activity kits, and end-of-treatment support
- Build strong relationships with hospital staff and care teams
- Track participation and support program impact reporting
Support Services Coordination
- Manage referrals for emotional and educational support services
- Coordinate with families, hospital partners, and contracted providers (art therapy, tutoring, counseling, etc.)
- Oversee provider onboarding, communication, and reporting
- Coordinate interpreter services as needed
- In-Patient and Bereavement Support Group coordination and office facilitation
Programs & Events
- Support and identify opportunities for growth and improvement of Friends programs and services.
- Assist with fundraising events through patient, patient family and hospital partner engagement and coordination, storytelling, and onsite support
- Help recruit and prepare patient participants for events and speaking opportunities
Scholarships & Administration
- Manage scholarship applications and communication through an online platform
- Support data tracking, reporting, and program evaluation
- Assist with newsletters, patient communications, and surveys
Service Committee
- Work closely with service committee on proposals, suggestions, etc.
- Evaluate future needs and requests
Miscellaneous
- Assist Executive Director and team with any additional support as needed.
- Possess a strong understanding and passion of the Friends of Kids with Cancer mission.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; background in nonprofit, healthcare, education, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of relevant experience (nonprofit, healthcare, pediatrics, or human services)
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with children and families
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple programs and priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Compassionate, adaptable, and mission-driven
Bonus (Not Required):
- Clinical background (BSW, MSW, LPC, CCLS, etc.)
- Experience working in pediatric or hospital environments
