Munchie Meals Program

Friends provides snacks for the treatment centers in many different ways. One of the little conveniences we offer to the families is saving a little money on the vending machines with ice cream, crackers, candy and drinks available in the break rooms. This may seem like a trivial thing, but when the child is in the hospital for days and even weeks, they are rarely without a family member by their side. It is a simple gesture that goes a long way in making everyone comfortable, from the child all the way through to a grandparent.

Along the same lines as our snack program, our Munchie Meals Program goes one step further and provides an entire meal for everyone on the floor getting treatment. Once a week, a volunteer will take down meals for lunch at the treatment centers. The food itself varies from Subway sandwiches to Steak 'n Shake but it's always a hit with the families. Providing a meal like this takes one less thing off the mind of the parents who would normally have to stop somewhere on their way to treatment or resort to hospital food. We enjoy providing a break from the monotony of the week with a special meal.
