More than 140 patient families attended the annual Winter Wonderland Holiday Party at Sports Fusion in Chesterfield on Sunday, December 4. The financial burden caused by cancer treatment is especially difficult for families during the holiday season and many kids will miss out on traditional childhood activities while they are in the hospital. The Winter Wonderland party gives these sick kids the holiday party they deserve.
“We had an amazing time! Great food, awesome fun, memorable family time and amazing lifelong friends to share it all with! Thank you for everything you guys do for our families,” says Brandee Kramer, patient parent.
For many of our struggling families, the fun stuff and extras are the first things to go. The Winter Wonderland party ensures that all children in our programs get to experience the joys of the holiday season through fun activities, toys and more.
For one day, kids with cancer got to escape into being a normal kid, running around and having fun while allowing parents to relax and share their experiences with people who understand their situation. Children got to see Santa and pick out a new toy, enjoyed milk and cookies with Mrs. Claus, caricatures, balloon animals, a candy store, bounce house, laser tag, arcade games, putt-putt golf, rock climbing and much more while creating lasting memories with lots of smiles!
