Children undergoing radiation/proton therapy are eligible for specialized “prizes” each day for the duration of treatment, tailored to the interests of the child. This is an alternative and specialized version of The Toy Closet, which keeps the child safe during isolation.
The Toy Chest program caters to the needs of children who are submitted to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, a complete isolation area that lasts a few days to many weeks.
Everything that goes into this Unit must be purchased brand new and sterilized due to the child's condition. Friends provides this program to fulfill those needs and provide the kids and their families with entertainment and support during this especially difficult period of treatment.
Often, teens in isolation also qualify for an iPad provided by Jake's Crew iPad Fund, to promote connection among friends.
