Job Description
Facilitate the art therapy program at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital serving the in-patient and out-patient Hematology/Oncology population. Address the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of pediatric patients. The systematic application of art in a therapeutic environment will be used to promote wellness, manage stress, express feelings, improve communication and promote coping
with illness, injury, disability and hospital/healthcare experiences.
Responsibilities
Provides therapeutic programming to improve the functional capabilities of patients.
Develops, implements, and evaluates art therapy programming in a variety of settings. Communicates and works with the multidisciplinary team to identify patient needs and referrals. Assesses and reassesses the patients’ condition and response to treatment then records and reports patient progress. Participates in Art from the Heart annually by identifying approximately 20 patient artists, working with
patients and families during designated sessions to create unique and expressive art pieces for auction, fostering relationships with patients and families, and collaborating with other art therapists and the Friends team to enhance and enrich the patient experience. Provide Friends of Kids with Cancer with projects and reporting as needed.
